In 2015, Vietnam will import about 3000000 tons of plastic raw materials

At present the domestic plastics enterprises only to the supply of 20-30% plastic raw material, about 70-80% (about 3000000 tons) of plastic raw materials to rely on imports. The main source of plastic raw materials is South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore China Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Japan etc.. Plastic raw materials mainly polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyethylene terephthalate plastic (PET), polypropylene (PP).
Reported that, at present, the Vietnamese PVC and PET plastic production enterprises in the annual output of 300000 tons of the two; PP plastic production enterprises only generalized province containing orange a plant, the annual output is 150000 tons.
The Vietnamese domestic polypropylene production is far from meeting the domestic plastics manufacturing industry demand, therefore the Vietnam every year to import 600000 tons of polypropylene from abroad. Vietnam Ministry of Finance recently disclosed a notice said, 2014, PP material import tariffs will increase from zero tariff to 1% now, in 2015 will increase to 2%, 2016 will once again increase to 3%.
Plastics industry in Vietnam has its disadvantages, backward technology; lack of plastic raw materials, a large number of raw materials need to be imported; the content of science and technology enterprise scale products and low added value; the lack of domestic famous brand products.
Vietnam plastics raw materials are need to be imported, so the price is not low, in addition, Vietnam high quality plastic products are not many, the product style monotonous.
